IRCTC wallet and the benefits of the scheme
IRCTC has launched a new scheme which has been known as the IRCTC wallet. This scheme helps customers to deposit money very well in advance in the IRCTC account so that it can be used in future for booking of tickets. The e-balance account can be also used to make payment in addition to the other payment options which are available. The IRCTC ewallet can also be used to book a ticket by a faster means, however, this scheme is not available from 8 AM in the morning and till 12 Noon. This scheme is also not available for Tatkal ticket booking in the morning. Users need to pay an amount of Rs 250 as registration charges for registering in the e-wallet scheme. This 250 Rs cannot be refunded back.

How to register in ewallet
You need to login to the IRCTC site with your existing IRCTC username and password. There is an e-wallet registration link under the e -wallet section in Plan My Travel page. You need to complete a verification process by providing PAN details as well as other details. A one-time transaction charge of Rs 250 is taken which is non-refundable. You can deposit minimum 100Rs and maximum 5000Rs as required. The ticket booking can be done through the e-wallet account. An e-ticket would be provided online like normal tickets.
